📜Main Story — 14 Chapters

Structure (no spoilers)

The main quest spans 14 chapters (~50–80h). Each chapter has clear stage goals; following them unlocks regions, bosses and the camp. Chapter-gated bosses are real walls — if stuck, explore and gear up rather than brute-forcing.

📋430+ Quests

How side quests work
  • NPC dialogue: most side quests trigger from conversations — talk to everyone with a marker.
  • Hidden quests: found in non-obvious places (eavesdrop, unusual locations, follow-up on rumors).
  • Bounties: hunt target enemies for gear/materials.
  • Dungeon & boss hunts: tie into ability unlocks.

🤝Faction Favor & Contribution

Help villagers, earn rewards

Faction/contribution currency comes from helping settlements. It exchanges for special rewards (gear, materials, cosmetics) — a reliable way to fill gaps in your build without grinding.

🔍Quest ↔ Ability Links

Quests are power gates

Many abilities, mounts and boss encounters are quest-locked. If an ability seems missing, check quest logs first — the answer is usually a side quest chain you haven't started.

Keeping the quest log clean

Most side quests trigger from NPC dialogue, so the habit that matters is talking to everyone with a marker before leaving a settlement. Hidden quests hide in non-obvious places — eavesdropping, unusual locations and environmental oddities — and they are where the memorable payouts live. Clear side content region by region as chapters open it, rather than hoarding a hundred markers for the post-game.

Chapter pacing and the 430-quest field

The main story spans 14 chapters at roughly 50 to 80 hours, with 430-plus quests layered around it. Chapter-gated bosses are real walls; the fix is gear and exploration, not brute force. A workable rhythm: push the chapter goal until a wall, spend a session on regional side quests and camp upgrades, then return — side quest rewards are tuned to feed exactly the gap the wall is testing.

Faction favor and contribution

Two reputations run in parallel: favor (how much a faction likes you) and contribution (what you have actually done for them). Both gate rewards, but contribution is the one that opens quest lines — deliveries, camp work and settlement defense raise it, while favor follows dialogue choices. A settlement loop that raises both turns every later visit into unlocked vendors, dialogue branches and quest markers.

Hidden quests and where they hide

The memorable payouts live outside the log: eavesdropping markers, unusual locations, environmental oddities and NPC conversations that repeat across settlements. The habit that finds them is slow exits — leave a town through its edges, talk to NPCs with no marker, and check the map after any story beat that changes a region's politics, because hidden quests respawn where the story just happened.

Contracts, hunts and the daily loop

Between story beats, three repeatable quest types fund the campaign: hunting contracts (skin and sell, double-dip with Observation practice), delivery work (rides the fast-travel network you already unlocked), and camp commissions that feed the self-sufficiency loop. One contract per session keeps silver and materials flowing without turning the 430-quest field into homework.

When to ignore the log entirely

Chapter gates are the only real deadlines. Between them, the log is a menu: if a quest's reward is silver you already have or XP the game does not have, skip it without guilt. The quests that matter announce themselves — ability unlocks, camp facilities, faction gates — and the rest are there for the weeks you want more Pywel, not more power.
