What Kind of Game Is This?
Single-player open-world action adventure — no multiplayer, no co-op, no levels. Your power comes from gear + Abyss Artifacts + skill trees + Observation Learning, not XP.
Your First Few Hours
Push the main story until you reach "Rebuild Greymane Camp" (early Hernand). The camp is your home base — it unlocks alchemy, cooking, farming, blacksmith and is the switch for most side content. Everything before that is a warm-up.
- Play through the opening chapter to reach the Greymanes' story hook.
- Follow the main quest until Greymane Camp is established.
- Build the camp's core facilities (alchemy, cooking, farm) before wandering off.
- Do a few side quests in Hernand for early gear and Abyss Artifacts.
- Start taming — the horse in Deepfog Basin is your first big mobility win.
Early Must-Do Checklist

| 5 | Observe Matthias → learn kick | Medium | First Observation-only move |
| 6 | Use blunt weapons vs Revenants | Medium | Hammer/fists crush undead faster |
| 7 | Set up a farm at camp | Medium | Passive food + alchemy mats |

Resource Management Early
- Campfires + camp medical tent heal you for free after you rescue Hubert.
- Forage herbs and craft basic salves — they're free and good enough early.
- Cook meat at the campfire for temporary buffs instead of buying food.
- Spend early silver on weapon smith upgrades, not consumables.
Observation Learning — the Hidden Power
- Encounter a new enemy type (or watch an ally fight).
- Hold the observe button for ~2 seconds while the enemy uses a move.
- Spend Abyss Artifacts to permanently unlock that move.
- Some of the strongest techniques are only obtainable this way — you cannot buy them.
💡 Rule: always observe new enemies once. Missing a rare move can cost you endgame options.
Common Beginner Pitfalls
- Brawling bosses early — if a boss one-shots you, explore and power up first; bosses are ability gates.
- Ignoring camp life skills — alchemy/cooking buffs are huge and cheap once the camp exists.
- Skipping Observation — you permanently miss moves you never observe.
- Hoarding silver — invest in smith upgrades; raw silver doesn't beat gear.
- Ignoring the Blue tree — the grapple branch is the single best early skill investment.
Observation Learning — the hidden power
The system beginners skip is the one the whole game runs on: watching enemies perform techniques unlocks counters, so every encounter is study. Let an unusual enemy show its move once before killing it, watch elite camps from a distance first, and re-watch boss phase changes — the bestiary of techniques you collect compounds into the damage and defense options no smith upgrade can sell you.
The first big purchases
Early silver is precious and the game tempts you with trinkets: the right first purchases are a smith upgrade on your chosen family, a stable of stamina food, and nothing else. Cosmetics, second weapons and minigame stakes can wait — the camp facilities and skill-tree nodes you skip today become the walls you pay interest on in chapter three.
