The main-story structure, verified

The campaign is organised into fourteen story sections: a prologue (Dead of Night), twelve numbered chapters, and an epilogue — containing 168 individual main-story quest steps between them. Chapter titles and quest names are documented by community trackers as players work through the later sections; we do not reproduce the full chapter and quest list here, because incomplete lists presented as complete are one of the failure modes this site is correcting.

Beyond the campaign, the game advertises over 430 total quests once faction quests, side quests and NPC requests are included — a figure that grows as hidden content is discovered. The Greymane faction alone carries three quest categories, and the city of Hernand hosts several faction chains.

How quests reach you, and how to read the map

Quests come from multiple channels: NPC dialogue, books and notes found in the world, and notice boards in towns. On the map, orange markers point at the next main objective and silver markers represent faction and side content — a two-colour signal that official and community documentation agree on. If you lose the thread, orange is the answer.

Chapter gates and what they mean

Later chapters gate bosses and regions behind story progress. Chapter-gated boss difficulty is real, and the correct response is gear, artifacts and practice (see progression notes), not brute force. A quest checklist that ignores patch numbers will send you at walls meant for later chapters.

Structure and counts cross-checked against dated community trackers; later-chapter documentation is still incomplete community-wide and is labelled as such.
