How to Choose Your Weapon
The best current signal points toward Bow of Hope, Glaive of Temperance and Crossbows of Pride as the highest-ceiling choices — but a weapon is only strong when you understand its loop. Pick the one whose mechanic you enjoy practicing:
- Safer ranged start: Bow of Hope (recall + stun) or Scepter of Charity (Blind).
- Melee ceiling: Glaive of Temperance (tip-hit spacing) or Hooks of Gluttony (pull + parry).
- Tank / frontline: Sword of Justice (Guard + Gavel Bash).
- Support: Staff of Sloth (slow) or Scepter of Charity (Blind) — best near allies.
Unlock & Upgrade Costs (1.0)
- Each weapon costs 50 Eternal Shards to unlock.
- Second upgrade slot: 1000 Eternal Shards + 5 Paragons.
- Each weapon has six upgrades — combine freely to match your playstyle.
- Weapon Mastery gives permanent core stat boosts per weapon; full mastery is a long-term 48% damage goal.
Weapon Mastery
Mastery is the long-term account path: each weapon permanently raises your core attributes as you use it. Unlocking a weapon is only the start — the real power curve lives in mastery and the second upgrade slot. Since 1.0 made unlocks cheaper, invest early in the one weapon you plan to main.

FAQ
Does weapon choice affect relics?
Directly: relics trigger off what your weapon does, so the trigger-read rule starts at the weapon page. A fast-hitting weapon feeds critical and missile triggers; a burst weapon prefers blast and co-strike lines. Read the weapon's loop first, then pick relics that trigger on what that loop already does — never the reverse.
Should I switch weapons mid-season?
Only for a reason the index states: a second weapon shares your relics and your roster's co-op triggers, so switching costs a mastery ramp against a known ceiling. The honest reason to switch is a build idea the current weapon cannot express — range, trigger frequency, or the duo-relic pairing the relics page describes. Otherwise mastery depth beats roster width every patch.
Mastery and the second upgrade slot
Weapon Mastery is the long game: progress persists across runs, and mastery levels feed the second upgrade slot that makes late-realm weapons viable. The practical pacing is one mastery project per play session — mastery XP is generous in the realm you are clearing anyway, so the project rides along with normal runs instead of demanding farming sessions.
Unlock costs and the spending order
Eternal Shards are the weapon currency, and the 1.0 unlock costs reward a plan: unlock one weapon to mastery, not three to level one. The mastery progress carries between runs (see the progression page), so the first weapon you take to its second upgrade slot is the spine of every later build — the costs table above tells you exactly how far each shard budget goes.
The weapon loop is the build
Every weapon in the index has a loop — the attack rhythm that generates its resource and pays out its burst — and the mastery system rewards playing the loop, not swapping weapons. The index's ceiling rankings (Bow of Hope, Glaive of Temperance, Crossbows of Pride) assume you have played enough of a weapon to read its loop; a first-hour player with any unlocked weapon beats a tenth-hour tourist on a meta pick.
