🔇33 Players, No Voice — Use Every Tool

Last updated:

Communication is the hardest skill in the game because there's no built-in voice chat. Lobbies that use every non-verbal tool win; lobbies that don't wipe at bosses.

🛠️The Non-Verbal Toolbox

  • Emote wheel (Alt / LB) — call mechanics, request heals, celebrate buffs. Spam the "attack this target" emote at boss phases.
  • Markers — mark elites, shrines and danger zones on the world map; the whole lobby sees them.
  • Co-strike bar — the shared-attack meter that drives relics like Muddy Apostle Medal; trigger it with nearby players.
  • Co-op Powers — need allies nearby; position before boss damage windows, not during.
  • Revive prompt — quickly interact with downed allies; Energy of Plethora rewards the rescuer.

👥Stick With Your Squad

You start in groups of ~6; during Ascension the lobby splits into 3 teams. Stay with your squad — team-based relics and Co-op Powers only work near allies, and isolated players are the first to die. Squad cohesion beats individual DPS every time.

Wrath-Phase Etiquette

  • Be conservative in the Wrath phase — prioritize revives over personal DPS.
  • Reach the boss with as many players alive as possible; survival rate predicts success.
  • Support players: keep the team's Co-op bar full; it's the shared win condition.

FAQ

Is there really no voice chat?

Correct — the game ships with no built-in voice, by design: 33-player lobbies with open voice would be unusable, and the non-verbal toolbox (marks, emotes, the shared map) is the intended communication layer. Squads that want voice run it outside the game; everything inside is readable without it, which is what the etiquette sections above are for.

What to do in a failing lobby

Every lobby has a floor, and the skill is finding it early: if marks are ignored by the second realm, stop coordinating and optimize — take the feats, farm the shards you can carry, and treat the run as progression rather than a boss attempt. The Fate system rewards completed runs, not heroic losses, and one solid trio can carry a boss even in a lobby of strangers.

Pings, marks and the shared map

The map is the lobby's only shared brain, so mark everything: objectives, boss positions, downed players, loot you are leaving for others. A marked map survives the wipe that scatters the squad, because the regroup point is on screen rather than in a voice channel nobody has. Etiquette is mostly map hygiene — clear your stale marks and mark before you move.

Reading the lobby before the first fight

The lobby's first minute predicts its last: players who mark up, share pickups and follow a mark are telling you the run is coachable, while a lobby that sprints off in 33 directions is telling you to bank your own objectives. The non-verbal toolbox works both ways — you are also reading what the lobby can absorb, and adjusting your communication to the audience is the real skill.

FAQ

Do marks expire or clutter the map?

They persist until cleared, which is why map hygiene is etiquette: a map covered in stale objectives is as useless as an unmarked one. The habit the squad sections assume: mark what you are moving toward, clear it when it is done, and re-mark after every wipe — the regroup point is the one mark that must always be current.
