🦑Creature Index

Can you fight creatures?

The Survival Tool and weapons barely scratch leviathans. This is a game about avoidance, not combat: read silhouettes, use decoys and repellents, and time your movement. A table of every EA creature follows — threat levels reflect the v1.0 patch tuning.

🛡️Leviathan Survival Tactics

Habitats map to Biomes; fragment routes for the tools that help are on Vehicles & Tools.

Food chain and the safe shallows

The creature index is not only a threat list: the shallows fauna (water slugs, air plants, the grazing species) is the survival economy in miniature, and several entries are harvestable rather than hazardous. The practical read: small fauna feeds and supplies you, medium fauna marks scan targets, and leviathans are the only entries whose row is purely about what not to do.

Sound design as a survival tool

Every dangerous entry in the table has an audio tell, and the game mixes them honestly: if you can hear it, it can reach you. Play with the audio mix that keeps ambient effects audible, learn the two attack cues for your current biome, and treat silence as the most dangerous sound in the game — predators that have stopped vocalizing are usually committed to an approach.

FAQ

Do any EA creatures tame or become friendly?

No — the Early Access build has no taming system, and none of the leviathans can be pacified. The smaller fauna exists for the ecosystem and the food chain, not companionship. If a creature looks like it might be rideable, it is probably a scan target for a vehicle blueprint rather than a pet.

Threat levels and route planning

The index's threat column is a route-planning tool: low-threat biomes are safe with an empty inventory, medium threats want a decoy equipped, and any route crossing a leviathan territory deserves a plan for what happens when you panic. The practical habit: swim away at the first sound cue, surface early, and let the route wait for the equipment that makes it safe.

Reading silhouettes and sound cues

Leviathan avoidance is an information game: every large predator in the index has a silhouette and a sound loop that plays before the attack window. Learn the two for the biome you are crossing, keep the Survival Tool stowed (fighting only marks your position), and treat the decoys and repellents in the table above as the intended answers — the game rewards divers who leave the fight unfought.

How to use this index

The table below lists every creature in the current build with its type, threat level and habitat. The threat rating is behavioral advice, not a combat tier: None means a harvest opportunity, Medium means route with preparation, and High or Extreme means plan your path around the habitat zone. The detail pages cover the silhouette tells — how each hunter telegraphs itself before it closes — because reading those a few seconds earlier is worth more than any equipment.

If a route keeps killing you, the fix is almost never a weapon. It is a decoy in the loadout, a parked Tadpole closer to the work site, or a different time of day. The Biomes page maps which regions concentrate which threats.
