Samantha Cooper — Destiny Guide
- Role: Botanist / alien researcher
- Destiny: science-curiosity path; her research checks reveal the truth
- Playstyle: investigative — her choices expose the mimic origin
Destiny & Endings
Samantha's Destiny follows her scientific curiosity. Choosing to investigate the alien samples (rather than destroy them) unlocks the truth about the mimics, which is required for the Scientist ending and deepens the Docked — Not Alone variant. Her research checks in Chapter 5 are the only path to the alien-origin reveal.
Survival Tips
Her segments reward patience — the research QTEs are slow but safe; rushing them triggers mimics. Keep her alive through Chapter 5's lab sequence (the mimic swarm is her hardest check). Her sampling choices in Chapter 2 determine which endings unlock later — always take the sample, never destroy it, if you're chasing the Scientist path.
Role in the crew
Samantha Cooper is one of the five playable protagonists of Directive 8020, with a personal Destiny track that reacts to the choices made in their scenes. This page covers their role in the crew, how their Destiny diverges, and what it means for the ending set.
The two Destiny paths
Samantha Cooper's two opposing Destiny paths are Professional versus Playful. The Crew menu shows a bar for each, and choices inside Samantha's scenes push it toward one pole or the other. The bars are the game's own progress tracker: if a path is half-full, you know which scenes to revisit once chapter select is available.
Destinies and the trophy list
Use the game’s supported Turning Points and replay options to explore another branch. The previous reference to a Curator’s Cut or Shared Story route was not supported for Directive 8020.
Survival stakes
Destiny is separate from survival. Samantha can die mid-run — failed QTEs, wrong calls in fatal scenes, or being the wrong person in the wrong room during the mimic's act — and the Crew Manifest trophy wants all five protagonists alive at the end. If Samantha dies on your save, chapter select back to the death scene is the recovery path; the save-everyone route page documents the known lethal beats. A dead protagonist also closes off their Destiny progress for that run, so survival and trophy hunting compound.

FAQ
Does Samantha's route affect which ending you get?
Yes — her investigative choices are what make the Scientist ending reachable, and her sample decisions feed the mimic knowledge the finale fork depends on. If Eisele's final choice is the last gate, Samantha's episode-long investigation is the road that leads to it, so keep her curiosity choices consistent rather than hedging mid-game.
Do Samantha's Destiny choices affect the ending?
Indirectly but meaningfully — Destiny paths steer which scenes and reveals a character accesses, and several endings hinge on those reveals. The ending set and the Destiny trophies therefore reward different emphasis across playthroughs.
Is Samantha required for the Crew Manifest trophy?
Crew Manifest wants all five protagonists alive at the end, so Samantha's survival is mandatory for it. The save-everyone route page documents the lethal beats to avoid.
How do I get the Scientist ending?
Follow Samantha's curiosity path — always investigate (never destroy) the alien samples from Chapter 2 onward, and keep her alive through the Chapter 5 lab sequence.
